Shroud has expressed frustration with his game, Spectre Divide, by transitioning to Deadlock, stating that the MOBA has “twisted” his brain and altered how he sees himself.
Upon Valve’s acknowledgment of Deadlock, shroud claimed it would “take over the world.”Although the game is currently in early access, it’s already drawing in thousands of players, potentially validating his prediction.
As its player base gradually grows into the tens of thousands, shroud’s enthusiasm for Deadlock is apparent; he even abandoned his own newly released title to invest more time in this game.
After a particularly tough match in Spectre Divide, where his team squandered a significant 7-2 lead, shroud opted to switch games.
Despite initially stating he would not dwell on his last match, shroud seemed to carry residual frustration into Deadlock.
“I feel like this game, Deadlock, changed the way I perceive myself and my peers,” shroud remarked as he launched Deadlock. “Deadlock has twisted my brain.”
His thoughts on the impact of Deadlock were interrupted by a viewer’s comment questioning why he wasn’t playing his own game.
“‘Hey, shroud isn’t playing his own f***ing game’… I was just playing for five f***ing hours, six hours, you dumb piece of s**t,” he responded, stepping off camera and showing evident irritation.
It is uncommon for shroud to show anger towards a game, typically reserving such reactions for frustrating weapons or stream snipers.
Over a week since its launch, Spectre Divide is not currently dominant among competitive live-service games, while Deadlock continues to attract attention. Additionally, the tactical FPS has faced criticism for its high skin prices at launch.
