Shrouded Fable Pokemon Card Reveal Pays Homage to Notorious Evolution Method

The highly anticipated Shrouded Fable is the upcoming expansion set for the English Pokemon TCG. The official Pokemon TCG X account has recently released intriguing posts, marking the start of the card reveal season.

In a nod to the infamous evolution technique of Inkay, @PokemonTCG shared a card from their Shrouded Fable set featuring the Revolving Pokemon. They then followed up with an inverted Malamar card in a subsequent post, much to the excitement of fans in the comments.

Inkay, which was first introduced in Gen 6 of Pokemon with X & Y, required players to turn their console upside down when it reached level 30 in order to evolve. While it may seem straightforward once you know the trick, stumbling upon it unintentionally during gameplay was extremely difficult.

Upon the official TCG account memeing the evolution method, Pokemon fans were filled with immense joy, with some even taking the initiative to explain it to those who were not familiar with it.

A Pokemon TCG collector praised the originator of the post idea, stating, “This account always comes out on top.”

Another person added their thoughts on how The Pokemon Company could have incorporated the complex evolution method with Special Conditions, stating, “We missed out on the chance to have Inkay evolve automatically when it becomes Confused.”

The Shrouded Fable reveal season is off to a promising start in terms of the featured cards. Although the Inkay and Malamar cards may not be flashy, full arts or Hyper Rares, they show potential for competitive players.

Malamar (034/064) and Inkay (033/064) Pokemon cards.

Despite having a typical HP pool and an Attack of 10 with Peck, Inkay’s Basic card stands out due to its powerful Mischievous Tentacles Attack. This move allows the user to view the top card of their opponent’s deck and choose whether the opponent must shuffle their deck, causing significant disruption.

Despite being a Stage 1 Pokemon, Malamar has the potential to perform like a Stage 2 with its impressive Attacks. Along with a decent amount of HP, it also has access to a powerful 90 damage Attack, albeit at a higher cost. However, it still packs a punch.

The main highlight of the performance is the Colluding Tentacles Attack. While its use is limited to when the Xerosic’s Machinations card is played, it offers a great deal of versatility. This move allows the player to switch one of their opponent’s Benched Pokémon to the Active spot and deal 120 damage, as long as the Xerosic card was also played during the same turn.

The cards in this expansion set show great potential and indicate that it will be a strong choice for competitive play. Shrouded Fable is a must-have for Pokemon TCG players and will also be highly sought after by art collectors, especially with the addition of the new Illustration Collections.
