“Well-known Twitch streamer shroud firmly believes that if Black Myth: Wukong does not emerge as the winner of Game of the Year, then the entire awards process must be rigged.”
Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the gaming world. He is a former professional CS:GO player and is currently developing his own FPS game, Spectre Divide. He is also known for openly expressing his opinions on the gaming industry.
Unsurprisingly, this led him to investigate Game Science’s wildly successful Black Myth: Wukong, and similar to others, he was astounded by the thrilling RPG gameplay.
The title inspired by Journey to the West has become a sensation in the gaming world, setting new records on Steam as the most popular single-player experience on the platform.
During a live stream on Twitch on August 22, shroud expressed his admiration for the “awesome”game before carefully considering his next words.
“I don’t want to offend you, but I strongly believe that it will win Game of the Year. In fact, I am 1000% sure of it.”
Despite his confidence, Grzesiek went as far as to declare that if Black Myth did not win the award in December, then the entire GOTY selection process must be rigged.
“If it doesn’t win, then it must be rigged. It’s as simple as that. What other games are even competing? Maybe Space Marine, but I highly doubt it. How could a Warhammer game possibly come out on top? Could it be Helldivers? Or perhaps Palworld? I believe it surpasses them all. It definitely stands out.”
In addition to Shroud, there are other Twitch streamers who believe that Black Myth: Wukong deserves the title of GOTY. Asmongold expressed similar thoughts during his own broadcast, stating that the game is the top contender for the award, even though it may not offer much in terms of exploration.
“Asmongold expressed his desire for more open world exploration in the game, noting how impressed he was with its overall quality. He admitted feeling silly for even mentioning it, given the already incredible mechanics and well-designed bosses. The game surpassed his expectations and he couldn’t be more pleased.”
