“Silent Hill 2 Players Encounter Major Bug Following Latest Patch Update”

A fresh update for the Silent Hill 2 remake has been released, but alongside enhancements in performance and the resolution of minor visual glitches, the developers inadvertently introduced a significant new bug that ‘breaks the game.’

This update, Patch 1.04, has successfully addressed issues with James’ movement, his abrupt teleportations, and problems related to the nurse’s skirts. However, as reported in the game’s subreddit, a new glitch has surfaced that prevents players from progressing in the challenging labyrinth section.

In essence, gamers navigating the labyrinth now encounter issues with their cube puzzles failing to progress, leaving many unable to move forward. After completing the initial stage, affected players discover that the cube will not transition to the second stage, rendering further advancement impossible.

The cube puzzle is already quite complex, and with this update glitch, numerous players find themselves wasting hours futilely rotating the cube without achieving any results.

One user expressed their frustration, stating, “Holy f**k I just spent an hour thinking I HAD to be missing something.” Many others echoed similar sentiments, initially suspecting their own puzzle-solving abilities rather than a software bug.

While some players labeled this as “a patch that breaks the game on PS5,” it has also been confirmed that the issue is present on “PC too,” leaving countless players trapped in the labyrinth.

Fortunately, there’s potential relief as players on the game’s subreddit have identified a possible workaround for PS5: “Ensure you have a save before entering the hole. Delete the game, disconnect from the internet, then reinstall. Load the mentioned save afterward.”

However, this method should be approached with caution since its effectiveness has not been officially verified. Interestingly, some fans noted that “the update is embedded within the download file. Tried redownloading it but it didn’t help. If only I had the disc version,” meaning this workaround may not be suitable for those using PC or digital versions of Silent Hill.

Thankfully, Bloober has recognized the bug, indicating that a “fix will be released as soon as possible” via Steam. Until then, they recommend using an earlier save file made prior to entering the Labyrinth as a temporary solution.

Since the patch was only launched on October 21, it’s reasonable to expect that a fix will soon be available.
