With the release of trailers from both PlayStation’s State of Play and Konami’s Silent Hill Transmission livestreams, there is a plethora of fresh material to analyze. This undeniably stirs up excitement, intrigue, and naturally, some criticism from fans of the original game.

The State of Play trailer introduces us to Angela Orosco, who we see in the iconic graveyard scene from the original game. Angela, a young woman carrying a heavy burden of trauma, is one of the main characters that James interacts with on his journey. The trailer focuses heavily on Angela and her personal demons, giving us a glimpse of the terrifying “Abstract Daddy”creature that torments her.

During Konami’s Silent Hill Transmission broadcast, a second gameplay trailer was shown that was much longer and provided a more detailed and faithful remake of the game in its original vision.

Despite being concealed in the initial teasers, we are now able to see Maria in her entirety, the sinister replica of James’ late wife Mary who accompanies him on his daunting quest through Silent Hill. Despite maintaining her recognizable short blonde hair, she has been given a contemporary appearance in the remake, undoubtedly prompting fervent debates among dedicated followers.

As the preview continues, we witness James encountering a young woman named Laura, who appears to have a close connection with Mary. More scenes show James attempting to prevent her from leaving and uncover the reason behind her familiarity with Mary. The trailer concludes with a dramatic encounter between James and one of the initial bosses from the original game. Although Eddie Dombrowski remains noticeably absent in this footage, there is a possibility that a final trailer will finally showcase his role.
