After the disappointment of the cancelled Silent Hill P.T. game, fans can now celebrate as Konami has announced the release date of their highly anticipated new Silent Hill game. Working with the Bloober team, they have released a gameplay trailer and confirmed that the Silent Hill 2 Remake will be coming out soon.
When will Silent Hill 2 Remake be released?
As you may have witnessed during Sony’s State of Play livestream, the release date trailer for Silent Hill 2 Remake was unveiled, with the game set to officially launch on October 8th, 2024. It is now available for pre-order on both the PlayStation and Steam stores.
Despite being announced a year ago with a teaser trailer, we were also given a 14-minute-long gameplay trailer for the game.
The two versions of Silent Hill 2 Remake are Standard and Deluxe. The standard edition, which can be pre-ordered, comes with the base game, a Mira the Dog Mask, and a PlayStation 5 exclusive Robbie the Rabbit Mask, regardless of the number of characters.
The deluxe edition, which is available for pre-order, offers the standard edition along with a digital artbook, digital soundtrack, Pyramid Head Mask, and a 48-hour early access period.
Despite the potential controversy, the early access period is being marketed as a premium feature, but this would not greatly impact a single-player game.
The Silent Hill 2 Remake is being developed by Bloober Team, a well-known developer of horror games. They have a reputation for creating successful horror titles such as The Medium, the Layers of Fear franchise, Observer: System Redux, and Blair Witch. The game is shaping up to be impressive, and it will be intriguing to see how one of the greatest horror games of all time will be reimagined in 2024.
Return to Silent Hill – Behind the Scenes
Following Sony’s State of Play event, Konami hosted their own livestream to reveal further updates on Silent Hill. Alongside the gameplay trailer and editions details, they also provided updates on the Return to Silent Hill movie, which was initially announced a year ago.
The upcoming film, Return to Silent Hill, will once again be helmed by Christophe Gans, who previously directed the first Silent Hill movie in 2006. Additionally, Akira Yamaoka, who served as the director, producer, and composer for the original four Silent Hill games, will also be returning for the new project.
