In recent days, Chinese internet users have been circulating the tragic tale of a prominent gamer known as Fat Cat, who was born in 2003. He made a drastic decision to jump off a bridge after going through a breakup with his girlfriend.
On April 11th, in the early hours of the morning, it was reported that Fat Cat had jumped off a bridge in Chongqing following his failed relationship. Upon receiving news of Fat Cat’s death, his older sister examined his messages and call records and discovered that he had taken his own life due to his unsuccessful romance with a woman named Tan Zhu, who was born in 1997.
According to Fat Cat’s sister, her brother dedicated 15 hours a day to working hard in order to earn money during his relationship with Tan Zhu. Throughout their two-year courtship, Fat Cat continuously sent all of his earnings to his girlfriend as “gifts”in order to support her travels, shopping, and indulgence in delicious food. Despite this, Fat Cat himself could only afford cheap meals and was unable to purchase anything for himself. Despite his sincere efforts, Tan Zhu ultimately decided to end their relationship just one month before they were set to register their marriage, despite their previous promise. Fat Cat attempted to salvage their relationship multiple times, but his attempts were unsuccessful, leading him to make a drastic decision.
Later, Fat Cat’s sister personally contacted Tan Zhu to address any concerns regarding her relationship with Fat Cat. Despite this, Tan Zhu declined to meet with Fat Cat’s sister and instead requested that the family sign an agreement stating that she would repay them 136,000 yuan.
Initially, Fat Cat’s sister believed that Tan Zhu and Fat Cat had a strong bond, which led her to sign the agreement. However, upon further examination of their past conversations while they were still a couple, Fat Cat’s family discovered that his girlfriend consistently disregarded him, despite his efforts to financially support her.
Specifically, Tan Zhu claimed that her motive for breaking up with Fat Cat was to gauge his feelings for her. Despite this, the public’s perception shifted when screenshots of Fat Cat’s desperate pleas for her to stay were made public. Many netizens accused Tan Zhu of fabricating the breakup and demanded that she return any monetary gifts she received from Fat Cat’s family.
