Skyrim Grandma Retires from YouTube Gaming Videos After Going Viral

<p>The viral sensation known as ‘Skyrim Grandma,’ Shirley Curry, has officially declared that she will be stepping away from creating gaming content.

At 88 years old, Shirley Curry has become a cherished icon within The Elder Scrolls community after she began sharing her Skyrim experiences online.

Over the years, she has built a remarkable YouTube presence with a follower count of 1.3 million subscribers.

While Shirley typically posted gameplay videos and vlogs multiple times each week, her fans were hit with the news that she is retiring from gaming video production.

In a video released on Sunday, September 22, titled “No More Gaming Videos,” Shirley Curry expressed her feelings about content creation fatigue. “It doesn’t bring me joy anymore, but it’s something I feel I must do… I’m old and I’m tired, and my motivation to create has diminished… I won’t be recording any more gameplay.”

Shirley further explained, “I find myself spending most of my time in front of this computer. Lately, I walk in here and see my computer, thinking, ‘I need to make a video today.’” Often, she ends up leaving the room because she feels “no desire to” create fresh content.

“I’ve been doing this for fun, but it’s not enjoyable anymore. I’m simply tired of it. It no longer excites me. So I’m finally making this decision – I won’t be making or uploading any more gaming videos.”

However, fans of Skyrim Grandma can look forward to occasional vlogs in the future. Shirley has also mentioned she’ll attempt to update her viewers from time to time about the books she’s reading.

Moreover, she plans to dedicate some of her newfound free time to writing a book and completing a quilt that’s been on her mind for a long time.

This announcement arrives two years after Shirley urged Bethesda to release The Elder Scrolls 6 before her passing. It’s worth noting that documents from the FTC v. Microsoft case indicate that the next installment may not debut until at least 2026.
