SM Entertainment Initiates Legal Measures to Safeguard RIIZE and Seunghan

On the afternoon of October 17, SM Entertainment announced their plans to take legal action against threats and defamatory comments aimed at the boy group RIIZE.

Here’s the complete statement released by SM Entertainment:

“Greetings, this is SM Entertainment.

We want to inform you about the legal actions we are initiating concerning violations of rights affecting the members of RIIZE (Shotaro, Eunseok, Sungchan, Wonbin, Sohee, Anton).

We have been gathering evidence of harmful posts and remarks, including threats, slander, and insults directed at RIIZE members, through reports from fans as well as our ongoing monitoring efforts. Our legal focus will be directed at those who persist in disseminating deceptive information across specific platforms.

Particularly, we have already submitted several individuals to legal action, including those who posed as RIIZE members’ acquaintances on Instagram, spreading misinformation, along with individuals tied to verified illegal activities. We are committed to responding decisively based on our guiding principles and will keep you informed regarding the advancement of these cases.

Creating unfounded narratives or sharing false rumors that tarnish someone’s reputation, as well as generating harmful content through manipulation of an artist’s image, constitutes a clear violation of the law.

We will continue to pursue rigorous measures, both in Korea and internationally, against anyone posting harmful content or videos that target RIIZE on platforms such as Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube. We emphasize that we will not engage in any settlements or show leniency, so we urge everyone to refrain from participating in these illegal activities.

We deeply appreciate all the fans who have consistently supported and encouraged RIIZE. We kindly ask for your ongoing assistance in reporting any illegal acts associated with RIIZE that you encounter.

Additionally, the agency issued a similar statement concerning former RIIZE member Seunghan, affirming their commitment to safeguard the male idol following his exit from the group after a personal controversy.

Seunghan made his debut with RIIZE in September last year. However, by November, he was placed on indefinite hiatus due to personal concerns and found himself at the center of controversy when a photo surfaced showing him kissing a woman.

While RIIZE continued as a six-member group for some time, Seunghan’s return was briefly announced in October. However, after fans expressed strong objections, even sending mourning flowers to SM Entertainment, the agency decided to retract their announcement and canceled Seunghan’s return to the group.
