SM Entertainment’s First UK Boy Group to Share Growth Journey on BBC This Summer

The five-member boy group, which is SM’s first to make their debut in the UK, was specifically formed to dominate international markets such as Europe and the US. This group was a result of a collaboration between SM, Kakao Entertainment’s North American integrated corporation, and the UK-based entertainment company Moon&Back (M&B).

M&B personally selected the members within the UK, while SM contributed their expertise in K-pop music, choreography, and vocals to bring the group to fruition.

SM and Kakao Ent have committed to furthering their diverse business collaboration through the creation of international local IPs and establishing connections with prominent partners around the world, in order to advance their global strategy.

The development of SM’s inaugural UK boy band, which is scheduled to make their debut in the latter half of the year, will be showcased in a six-episode TV series called ‘Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience’ on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this summer.

The TV series will document the K-pop training process and the UK boy group’s 100-day journey in Seoul, showcasing their growth as musicians. It will focus on SM’s Artist Development Center, which is responsible for casting and training, and will also feature collaborations with renowned choreographers and composers from around the world.

Nigel Hall, one of the founders of Moon&Back Media, declared that their creation of a British boy band, trained in a unique K-pop style, and their subsequent global debut is a groundbreaking event that cannot be missed.
