A teaser of virtual artist naevis, whose solo debut has been eagerly awaited by fans, was uploaded by SM Entertainment.

On August 21, it was reported by Korean news outlet E-Daily that SM Entertainment had released a video teaser featuring naevis, a virtual character from the universe of aespa.

The character played a crucial role in assisting the aespa members in accessing the P.O.S. (Port of Soul), a gateway between the physical world and the virtual realm of Kwangya. It was also revealed that as an artist, Naevis intends to launch a range of activities in September.

The publication also reported that naevis will incorporate cutting-edge technology to function as a versatile character capable of adapting to different platforms, content, and media. Additionally, the virtual artist will be equipped with an AI-generated voice and intelligence.

Naevis’ goal is to broaden her audience by expanding her IP universe with various forms of content, including music, games, webtoons, brand partnerships, and merchandise.

Recently, on March 25, the current CEO of SM Entertainment, Lee Sung Soo, announced that the agency was working on developing naevis into a virtual idol.

“Our intention is to introduce naevis, a character previously only seen in computer graphics (CG) in aespa’s music videos,”the CEO explained. “She will be an artist who utilizes technology to incorporate natural movements, voices, and real-time communication.”

The CEO further emphasized, “In order for virtual human beings to be perceived as genuine individuals by the audience, it is imperative that storytelling and music are given proper backing.”
