Despite their frustration with SM Entertainment over NCT Johnny’s limited activities and promotions, fans expressed their discontent by organizing a social media protest and calling for improved treatment of the idol.

On August 13, NCTzens expressed their worries regarding Johnny’s limited exposure. Hashtags on X (Twitter) trended as fans called out SM Entertainment for not prioritizing his solo activities, despite him being recognized as one of the most versatile and talented idols of the third generation.

In a letter, fans requested an explanation and updates from SM Entertainment regarding the opportunities available for Johnny. They highlighted the idol’s impressive talents, evident in his reputation as a skilled DJ, songwriter, and producer.

They mentioned that Johnny frequently shares his projects, but the company’s support would be necessary for the content to gain exposure.

In addition, Johnny’s fame and influence on social media were highlighted, as he generated significant attention during the Met Gala 2022 and brought in $1.8 million in Media Impact Value for Thom Browne at New York Fashion Week 2023, as well as $1.9 million for Acne Studios at Paris Fashion Week 2024.

NCTzens also pointed out that Johnny is highly skilled in variety shows. However, they voiced their disappointment that SM has not utilized this talent and has not given him any opportunities to appear on variety shows. Additionally, they mentioned that the agency has not assigned any staff members to assist Johnny with his YouTube content.

Additionally, supporters highlighted the immense admiration he receives from public figures, fans, and individuals who are not typically fans of K-pop. They also expressed excitement for Johnny’s potential as an actor.
