Smash Professional Player Skyjay Refutes Allegations of Sexual Relations with 14-Year-Old

Super Smash Bros professional player Juan Pablo ‘Skyjay’ Lozada has addressed recent accusations regarding his alleged sexual involvement with a minor, firmly rejecting all claims made against him following their emergence online.

On October 10, a post surfaced on social media asserting that Skyjay had confessed to engaging in sexual relations with a minor.

“This individual (SKYJAY) told me directly that when he was 18, he had ‘sexual relations’ with a 14-year-old GIRL,” the post claimed. “When I pointed out how wrong that was, he responded, ‘It’s just that, why do they do it like that?’

“He relayed this in such a casual manner, seemingly unaware that it could be deemed wrong.”

Shortly after these claims emerged, Skyjay took to his social media to issue a detailed statement in which he categorically denied the allegations.

“I am fully aware of the situation and the statements being made about me. Initially, I preferred to stay away from this issue since I do not condone the actions that are being attributed to me. These allegations even implicate individuals with whom I am in a relationship (to whom it may concern) and friendships, suggesting they are ‘victims.’

“The primary accusation circulating at this moment is whether I engaged sexually with a minor at the age of 18. It’s important to clarify that I joined the community in 2019 when I was around 20-21 years old; the comment made dates back to a time well before I was involved in the community.”

He further added: “To be explicit, I have never had sexual relations with minors, neither pertaining to this accusation nor at any other time in my life. For added context, my current girlfriend is even older than I am.”

“Clearly, this issue exists within the community, but I’m not here to cast blame. I understand how my relationship may appear concerning the unfolding events, but this situation is not about heroes or villains; the decisions made should remain between those involved.

“I am not someone who has engaged in acts related to statutory rape.”

Skyjay also addressed the subject during a stream, reiterating his claims of innocence.

In response to the serious allegations, esports team Cosmic Hive announced shortly afterward that Skyjay would be excluded from all future activities, both online and in-person, including the upcoming Mexico national ranking.

They elaborated, in a reply to a fan: “We have received additional reports beyond those mentioned in the tweet. It is not our place to disclose information provided confidentially by the victims.”

As Skyjay mentioned in his statement, the Smash community has a history of similar controversies.

Earlier in February 2024, Niko faced accusations regarding indecent images of a minor on his phone. In 2019, former top player Elliot ‘Ally’ Barroza-Oyarce confessed to having a relationship with a 16-year-old despite being 27. In 2020, Gonzalo ‘Zer0′ Barrios admitted to inappropriate conduct with underage girls. By September 2022, his legal issues related to this matter had concluded, and he returned to competition.
