The highly anticipated premiere of the live-action Snow White movie, featuring Rachel Zegler, is approaching. So, let’s analyze all the details we have so far, including the release date.
Recently, Disney has been transforming several of its beloved animated films into live-action adaptations. Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid have already received this treatment. Snow White is set to be the next princess to receive the live-action makeover.
Upon its release in 1937, the original film was the first feature-length animated movie and quickly became a huge success, solidifying its place as one of the most cherished animated films of all time. As expected, the live-action remake has big shoes to fill.
Therefore, here is all the information we have regarding the upcoming film, including its release date, storyline, actors, and additional details.

Despite the trend of recent Disney live-action remakes, Snow White will follow a traditional release strategy, premiering exclusively in cinemas before becoming available on streaming platforms at a later date.
In October 2016, Walt Disney Pictures initially revealed their intentions to produce a live-action version of Snow White. However, filming for the project did not commence until six years later, in March 2022, and it took place in the UK until July of the same year.
The live-action cast
Similar to all previous Disney live-action adaptations, the cast of Snow White also features renowned actors. The primary cast for the live-action Snow White is listed below:
- Rachel Zegler as Snow White
- Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen
- Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman
- Andrew Burnap as Jonathan
- Martin Klebba as Grumpy
- Colin Michael Carmichael and Dujonna Gift as dwarves
- Colin Michael Carmichael as Farno
- Dujonna Gift as Maple
Zegler has expressed her surprise at landing a role in Variety’s Actors on Actors series, saying: “I never could have imagined this opportunity in a million years.”

The movie will be directed by Marc Webb, best known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man series, while the screenplay will be written by Greta Gerwig, known for her work on Barbie, and Erin Cressida Wilson.
Marc Platt and Russel Allen will serve as producers for the film, with Callum McDougall as the executive producer. Similar to their work on Aladdin, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul have written new original songs for Snow White.
The plot
The upcoming Snow White film will be a retelling of the beloved Disney animated classic, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. As a result, we can anticipate numerous plot elements that mirror both the 1937 movie and the original 1812 Brothers Grimm fairy tale. These include a benevolent Princess, a vain and envious Queen, and a group of dwarves.
Similarly to other live-action Disney remakes, this one will also undergo some minor updates to reflect modern times. One notable change is the introduction of a new love interest named Jonathan for the main character, which is expected to significantly alter the storyline.
