As anticipation builds for the live-action adaptation of Snow White featuring Rachel Zegler in the titular role, let’s delve into key details surrounding the film, including its premiere date, storyline, cast, and much more.
Disney has embarked on a journey to reimagine its classic animated films into live-action features, with recent successes such as Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid. Now, Snow White steps into the spotlight as the next character to receive this modern interpretation.
Originally released in 1937 as the first-ever feature-length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs captivated audiences and secured its place as one of the most cherished animated classics. The newly reimagined film undoubtedly carries the weight of high expectations from fans.
Upcoming Release Date
The highly anticipated live-action remake is set to premiere in theaters on March 21, 2025. This film will initially screen exclusively in cinemas before making its way to streaming platforms.
Walt Disney Pictures first announced the live-action adaptation plans back in October 2016, and after an extensive development period, filming occurred in the UK from March to July 2022.

The film will be directed by Marc Webb, known for his work on the The Amazing Spider-Man series, with a screenplay crafted by Greta Gerwig, recognized for her work on Barbie. Producers Marc Platt and Russel Allen, alongside executive producer Callum McDougall, are also noteworthy contributors. Audiences can look forward to original songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the duo behind the music for Aladdin.
The Plot Unveiled
This adaptation of Snow White will follow the beloved tale from the original animated film and the Brothers Grimm’s fairy tale.
Fans can expect many of the classic narrative elements from both the 1937 feature and the 1812 story, including a kind-hearted princess and a beauty-obsessed jealous queen. However, Disney’s trend of modernizing its narratives means that new plot developments are also in store, with the introduction of a new love interest named Jonathan, poised to add depth and complexity to the traditional storyline.
