SNSD Tiffany on Younger Idols’ Work Ethic: ‘Juniors Will Suffer the Consequences’

After a broadcast, SNSD Tiffany faced backlash for her criticism of the behavior of younger idols during rehearsals.

On May 15, Tiffany Young, a member of Girls’ Generation, made an appearance on MBC’s “Radio Star”where she confidently expressed her opinions.

In 2022, she reunited with the “Nation’s Girl Group”to work on their 15th debut anniversary studio album, “FOREVER 1.”During this project, she also shared her experience of working with her junior colleagues on music programs.

Specifically, she experienced culture shock when she observed that younger idols were allowed some leniency or downtime while filming their individual fancams. This was different from the past when they were expected to give their best effort, even if they were not prominently featured on camera, even during rehearsals.

Tiffany carried on:

“When I saw that, I thought, ‘These friends are rehearsing so half-heartedly,’ and ‘Why are they being so lazy these days?”

Despite realizing that it was a soundcheck, Tiffany persisted in berating the juniors for their lack of synchronization in their breathing and positions.

Finally, she offered her guidance, stating:

“I found out that it is less tiring to have rehearsals these days. There were a lot of new things. But you know?

I guess there is a saying like that; ‘First time, last time, every time.’ Always do it like it was the first time, every time, always. It’s the same for rehearsals and you must always do it like it’s the real thing.”

Upon circulating on Instiz, Tiffany’s remark garnered a variety of responses.

Despite some disagreement, many others supported her and asserted that she has the privilege to express herself as she has been a part of the music industry for 17 years. Fans also highlighted that among girl groups, SNSD consistently puts in immense effort and excels in all their endeavors from their debut to the present.

“Even if she said it in passing, it still has a substance.”

“It’s okay because they’re good at it. Among the SNSD members, I don’t see any of them acting unprofessional when performing. Indeed, idols these days don’t seem to have any skills or earnestness.”

“If Girls’ Generation doesn’t say things like kkondae or anything like that, who will?”

“That’s why they’ve been running for a long time because SNSD is a group with a great live performance.”

Despite this, Tiffany received criticism from numerous internet users for insinuating that young junior idols are careless during rehearsals. This sparked concerns that certain artists may be targeted once again.

The SNSD member was also ridiculed for not keeping up with current choreography trends and failing to recognize that they have become more physically demanding.

“I don’t like people saying things like this because if seniors speak in general terms, unspecified junior idols will suffer the damage. Personally, I really don’t like people saying things like this.”

“There are groups that rehearse harder than your group. What are you talking about?”

“It seems a bit thoughtless, but even seniors who are more senior than Tiffany don’t say things like that.”

“It’s really strange to throw a tantrum by making a fuss about rehearsals.”
