The video depicts Minji as a starting player, kicking the ball during the second game of the Coupang Play Series match between Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur at Sangam World Cup Stadium in Seoul on August 3rd.
Out of all the members, Minji was the final person to kick the ball. Despite her nerves, Minji managed to make the ball soar high into the air, executing an impressive ‘eagle shoot’. This unexpected feat surprised the Bayern Munich players, causing them to burst into laughter.
Upon reading the post, online users responded with comments such as, “Is this the official account of Munich?”and “Is this part of the NewJeans League?”among others.
After the event, Minji visited the fan communication platform Phoning and posted, “The day after the event, I experienced a lot of muscle pain in my leg. I suppose physical activity is not my strong suit,”also mentioning, “But despite that, I felt extremely joyful after kicking the ball.”
At the same time, Variety, an American pop culture magazine, recognized Minji’s group NewJeans as one of the “2024 Young Hollywood Impact”lists. This makes them the sole K-pop girl group to be included on the list.
