Solo Leveling: Ragnarok’s English Version Launching in November 2024

On Friday, November 1, 2024, the popular platform Tapas unveiled a highly anticipated trailer announcing the English release of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. This webcomic sequel is set to debut in English on Monday, November 11, 2024, with weekly chapter releases slated thereafter. This exciting news comes as a welcome development for fans eager to follow the next chapter of this captivating series.

Solo Leveling: Ragnarok made its initial appearance on Kakao Page on August 1, 2024 but left many fans wondering about the status of its English translation until now. This new series serves as a continuation of the renowned Solo Leveling web novel and webcomic, which recently enjoyed an adaptation into an anime scheduled for the Winter 2024 season.

Exciting Release Timeline and Trailer Insights

The trailer highlights protagonist Sung Suho, the son of the beloved Sung Jinwoo, who starred in the original series. In the footage, Suho displays heroism by rescuing a woman from a formidable monster, despite initially lacking the power he needs—as a tribute to his father’s legacy. The scene concludes with a game-like dialogue box that indicates Suho has completed the requirements for a “Secret Quest: Courage of the Weak.”

The webcomic is creatively brought to life by JIN (artist) and Brix (adapter), both associated with REDICE Studios. The story finds its roots in Daul’s original web novel, which debuted on Kakao Page in April 2023 and continues to unfold. For fans craving the original narrative, Tapas has also been publishing the English version of this novel since January 3, 2024. It’s worth noting that the talented artist DUBU, who illustrated the original webcomic, was the former CEO of REDICE Studios.

The legacy of DUBU, known as Jang Sung-rak, is deeply felt in the world of Solo Leveling. He adeptly illustrated the webcomic adaptation of Chugong’s initial web novel from July 2016 to June 2019, with a concluding chapter released in December 2021. Tragically, DUBU passed away in July 2022 due to a brain hemorrhage, following a long-standing battle with illness during the series’ run.

What to Expect from the Anime Adaptation

The upcoming second season of the anime adaptation is titled Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow- and is scheduled to premiere in January 2025. Crunchyroll will offer international streaming of this highly anticipated season, further expanding the series’ reach.

“Solo Leveling: Ragnarok follows Sung Suho, son of the legendary Sung Jinwoo, as he faces a new and terrifying threat in the aftermath of the death of one of the creators of the multiverse, the Absolute Ones. With a dangerous power vacuum now destabilizing reality, gates once again open to release fearsome monsters into Earth’s dimension. Suho, now tasked with saving the world, must conquer the perilous shadow dungeon and confront his father’s powerful legacy in this action-packed continuation.”
