Solo Stan Clash: BLACKPINK Lisa’s Success & Jennie’s Indoor Vaping Controversy

The two fanbases that support a solo artist are separated.

On July 10, Billboard News released a sneak peek of the recent developments concerning Lisa and Jennie, members of BLACKPINK. The announcer began by sharing Lisa’s accomplishment on the Billboard charts, as the soloist earned her first No. 1 spot on the Global 200 Excl. US with her comeback track “ROCKSTAR.”

The article then stated that Lisa is set to perform at the 2024 Global Citizen Festival in New York on September 28 as the headliner. According to insiders, Lisa will be among a lineup of renowned artists including Doja Cat, Post Malone, Jelly Roll, and Rauw Alejandro.

Following that, Billboard released an article about Lisa and Rosé’s TikTok video, in which the two were seen enjoying themselves while dancing to Lisa’s hit song “ROCKSTAR.”

Despite Lisa’s news, the spotlight quickly shifted to Jennie and the controversy surrounding her vaping clip that went viral on the internet.

On July 9, ODD ATELIER released an official statement apologizing and confirming that Jennie had indeed vaped indoors to everyone.

Upon learning the news, the agency also revealed that Jennie had personally extended her sincerest apologies to the staff who were present on-site. This sparked mixed reactions from the fandom, with some criticizing Billboard for allegedly using Jennie’s name for publicity.

  • “Deleted the first article and reposted again lmao.”
  • “They do anything for clout.”
  • “The fact this is coming from ‘professionals.’ I expected better than this all-time low headline.”
  • “That headline was unnecessary.”
  • “The worst promotion is taking Jennie’s hot news in selling the tickets. Not respectful but it seems you’re lower than ever @billboard.”
  • “No Jennie, no clout.”
  • “A repost. Just delete the whole post and repost it again with a better headline.”
  • “Your caption is just messed up and you’re using Jennie’s name to hype someone else that can’t even sell half of the tickets.”

At the same time, the video also excited the individual fan bases of the two artists, Lilies and Jensetters.
