Solos are finally coming to Apex Legends in Season 21 – A breakdown of the new Solo mode

Solos will be making a comeback in Apex Legends for Season 21, but with a few adjustments and only for a short period of time.

Apex Legends players were last able to experience a solo mode in Season 2, which dates all the way back to August 2019. However, this mode was only accessible for a limited time during the Iron Crown Collection Event.

Despite previous statements from developers that it would not be brought back, Season 21 will see the return of solos mode, now known as “Solo Takeover”. This mode will replace Duos at the start of the season.

With the release of Apex Legends: Upheaval, players will have the opportunity to play as the new Legend, Alter, in Solo Takeover. This game mode will take place on the shattered Broken Moon, allowing players to experience Alter’s Void walking abilities.

Solo Mode in Apex Legends: Upheaval

In Season 21 of Apex Legends, a feature called ‘Battle Sense’ allows players to detect nearby enemies while playing Solo Takeover. This is displayed as an indicator on the left side of the screen and appears when an enemy is within a 50-meter range.

In Solo Takeover, weapons are already equipped with attachments. However, looting is still necessary, but searching for individual attachments is not. Additionally, attachments can still be found as ground loot if you wish to replace a sight or scope.

When it comes to healing, you will automatically recover after successfully defeating an enemy. Your HP bar will be replenished, but it is still important to find cover and shield yourself before engaging in another battle.

A player is given a guaranteed second chance as they will respawn after dying once. However, they must wait for 8 seconds before receiving their “second life”. This new mechanic for Second Chance is similar to being revived by squad members, but without any additional animations.

As the long-awaited solo mode makes its return in Apex, this is how it works. Time will tell if it lives up to players’ expectations and becomes as popular as they had hoped, but for now, it is available this season.
