Neva, the latest stunning action-adventure creation from Nomada Studio—the same team behind the acclaimed Gris—stands out as one of the year’s most visually impressive games. It performs exceptionally well on PC, but unfortunately, it lacks adequate support for ultrawide monitors. Fortunately, a dedicated member of the widescreen community, Rose, has developed a patch that adds ultrawide support to Neva, effectively removing the unwanted black bars from the display.
Resolving the Neva Ultrawide Black Bars Problem
Thanks to Rose’s patch, players can now access ultrawide resolutions in Neva, enhancing the gaming experience by providing a fully immersive display without the distraction of black bars.
The installation process for the patch is quite straightforward:
- Visit the following GitHub page
- Click on Neva.ultrawide.v1.0.zip found under Assets to download the patch file
- Extract the zip file, run the patching tool, and point it to Neva’s installation directory
- That’s all it takes! Upon next launching Neva, you’ll be able to select your preferred resolution in the settings menu
Do note that the introductory cutscene is pre-rendered, so it will still appear with black bars. However, all gameplay that follows will be displayed in the proper ultrawide format. Here’s a screenshot showing Neva running in an appropriate ultrawide mode, courtesy of Rose.
Kudos to Rose for developing and testing the patch at 2560×1080, 3440×1440, and 3840×1080 resolutions. Currently, users report no problems with the patch, and it operates smoothly.
There’s little expectation that the game’s developers will implement ultrawide support in the near future, as they haven’t made any comments on the matter on Steam. Thankfully, this external patch is a fantastic solution that enhances the gaming experience significantly.
However, the absence of ultrawide support is not the only concern, as Neva also faces some controller-related issues, which can be easily resolved with minor adjustments on Steam.
