Solving the Weights and Scales Puzzle in Toluca Prison: A Guide for Silent Hill 2 Players

1. How to solve the Weights & Scales puzzle in the Silent Hill 2 remake?

To tackle the Weights and Scales puzzle in Silent Hill 2:

Proceed to the Chapel located on the first floor of Toluca Prison to obtain the Heaviest Weight, then make your way to the Yard for the weighing scales.
Position the Heaviest Weight on the right side of the scale and the existing weight on the left to open the Headless Serpent door adjacent to cell A6.
Resolve the generator challenge in the Witness Room by toggling the switches in order to secure the Medium Weight from the Death Chamber.
Utilize the Medium, Heaviest, and Starter weights on the right scale to gain access to the Hornless Ox door near cell A1.
Retrieve the Block D Key from the Guardroom, then gather the Heavy Weight from the Showers.
Set the Heavy, Heaviest, and Medium Weights on the right scale, while placing the Starter Weight on the left to unlock the Eyeless Boar door in Block B.
Locate the Lightest Weight in Cell F6 of the Basement to operate the Execution Lever and complete the puzzle.

Several doors must be traversed to complete the Toluca Prison puzzle.

Your mission consists of a series of puzzles culminating in the final challenge. You must unlock four beast-engraved doors and solve the final puzzle.

2. How to unlock the Headless Serpent Door?

Visit the Chapel on the first floor of Toluca Prison to locate the Heaviest Weight. After collecting it, proceed to the Yard to begin the scales puzzle.

For your first scales challenge, place the Heaviest Weight on the right scale and the existing weight on the left. This action will grant you access to the Headless Serpent door, granting entry to the area adjacent to cell A6.

3. How to unlock the Hornless Ox Door?

To unlock the Hornless Ox door, navigate to the Witness Room where a generator puzzle awaits you.

To solve this puzzle, switch the levers in the sequence of 6-4-5-1-3-2 for Standard difficulty, or use 4-5-2-1-3-6-7 for Hard difficulty.

Once completed, you can access the Death Chamber to procure the Medium Weight, then return to the scales puzzle to place the Medium, Heaviest, and Starter weights on the right scale. This will unlock the door.

4. How to unlock the Eyeless Boar?

Next, collect the Block D Key from the Guardroom and visit the Showers to acquire the Heavy Weight, essential for the next steps of the puzzle.

To unlock the Eyeless Boar door in Block B, place the Heavy, Heaviest, and Medium Weights on the right scale, while the Starter Weight goes on the left. This will activate the mechanism to open the door.

5. How to unlock the Wingless Dove Door?

Head to the Administrative Section to find the Upper Floor Key inside the Infirmary. Use the typewriter in the Warden’s Office to type “SICK” to unlock the Light Weight.

Then, place all weights except the Medium Weight on the left scale to open the Wingless Dove door.

6. Final Scales Puzzle

For the concluding phase of the puzzle, make your way to the Prison Basement and find the Lightest Weight in Cell F6. This weight is the final component needed for the puzzle.

Return to the scales and position the Lightest, Light, and Heaviest weights on the left scale, while the Starter, Medium, and Heaviest weights are placed on the right. After arranging the weights, manipulate the dial to unlock the Execution Lever, completing the Gallows Puzzle and your journey through the shadowy Toluca Prison.
