The film “Untold Scandal” is poised for a revival as a Netflix series, featuring Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook in the leading roles for this much-anticipated remake, according to reports from the broadcasting sector.
Originally released in 2003 and guided by director Lee Jae-yong, “Untold Scandal” creatively reinterprets the French literary classic “Les Liaisons dangereuses,” transporting its themes to the Chosun dynasty. The narrative focuses on the infamous seductress Lady Cho (portrayed by Lee Mi-sook) and the amorous Jo-won (played by Bae Yong-joon), who engage in a scandalous contest aimed at corrupting the virtuous Lady Jeong (played by Jeon Do-yeon).
Despite its rating as inappropriate for younger audiences, “Untold Scandal” garnered immense popularity, drawing more than 3 million viewers and earning accolades at several film festivals, both national and international, while being lauded for its artistic merit.
In the upcoming series adaptation, Son Ye-jin will assume the role of Lady Cho, while Ji Chang-wook will depict Jo-won. The project will be helmed by director Jung Ji-woo, renowned for his works including “Happy End,” “Modern Boy,” “A Muse,” and “Tune in for Love.”
With the combination of Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook creating significant excitement, filming for “Untold Scandal” is scheduled to commence in March of the following year.
