On June 16th, Song Da-eun clarified, “I want to address the ongoing associations of ‘club’, ‘drugs’, and ‘specific acts related to drugs’ that have been linked to me for a number of years. I want to make it known that I do not partake in any of these activities and that I am a non-smoker who cannot consume alcohol.”
She went on to mention, “I have something to share about Monkey Museum,”and then added, “I never frequented clubs during my adulthood, college years, and until I graduated. At that time, even a small amount of alcohol would get me intoxicated due to my low tolerance. As a result, I only visited a nearby pub with my college friends a couple of times.”
Song Da-eun recalled, “I was invited to have a meal with some senior students at school, and Seungri happened to be there. It was then that I discovered we were schoolmates and he was very friendly towards me. This was how our acquaintance began. After some time, Seungri reached out to me and mentioned that he was opening a lounge club. Without hesitation, I agreed to join, thinking that there would be no major issues.”
She went on to explain, “The idea of ‘Monkey Museum = Lounge Club’ was completely disregarded. During my time at Monkey Museum, my duties included checking reservations on the laptop at the entrance and providing wristbands to guests with reservations. I initially agreed to help for the first month when he asked for assistance. My monthly salary records serve as proof of this. Prior to starting work, I was instructed to obtain a health certificate, which I obtained from the district office. At the time, I was unaware that Monkey Museum was operating illegally.”
She stated, “I assisted him for approximately a month and my colleagues also stopped working alongside me. Several months later, Monkey Museum hosted their one-year celebration. To my surprise, I was invited and even received an award. After my appearance on ‘Heart Signal’, my photo spread and some people mistakenly assumed that I had worked for Burning Sun after leaving Monkey Museum. However, I want to clarify that these rumors about me working at Burning Sun and luring other women there are completely false.”
Song Da-eun opened up about a past experience, sharing, “A few years ago, a junior actress spoke about losing 6 years of her career. I went through the same ordeal.”She went on to explain, “I had to drop out of all the dramas I was cast in and was unable to participate in any other activities, like advertisements and radio shows. I spent every day feeling hopeless and crying. False accusations continue to follow me, and people believe them without question. It’s a heavy burden to bear. I just want to live a happy life without being labeled as a party girl or a drug user. I’m a regular woman in my 30s, and I deserve to be treated as such.”
In 2019, Song Da-eun addressed the rumors surrounding the Burning Sun scandal through her agency. The actress made it clear that she had no involvement in the incidents associated with the scandal, stating, “I want to clarify that I am not connected to the series of events surrounding the Burning Sun Scandal.”
