On Liberation Day, August 15th, Professor Seo Kyung-duk from Sungshin Women’s University and actress Song Hye-kyo generously donated 10,000 copies of the guidebook to Lee Tae-joon Memorial Hall, which is situated in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This donation was made in honor of the occasion and to support the important work of the memorial hall.
The guidebook, available in both Korean and Mongolian, is currently being distributed at the temporary Lee Tae-joon Memorial Hall. It will also be made available at the newly opened Lee Tae-joon Memorial Hall.
The guidebook includes comprehensive information on Lee Tae-joon’s involvement in anti-Japanese independence activities, his efforts in Mongolia, the Lee Tae-joon Memorial Park, his family tomb, and his life.
Professor Seo Kyung-duk explained his decision to donate the guidebook, stating that with the growing number of Korean tourists visiting Mongolia, he saw it as an opportune moment to raise awareness about independence activist Lee Tae-joon.
He emphasized, “The current state of preservation for Korean independence movement sites abroad is not satisfactory. In order to safeguard these sites, it is crucial to consistently generate interest and encourage visits from Korean citizens.”
Thanks to the efforts of Professor Seo Kyung-duk and the support of actress Song Hye-kyo, a total of 37 locations associated with the Korean independence movement have received numerous donations of Korean guidebooks, signage, and relief sculptures over the course of 13 years.
