On January 9th, Professor Seo Kyung-duk reflected on his extensive partnership with the acclaimed actress Song Hye-kyo. During his recount, he mentioned receiving numerous messages from followers after a photo of the two was showcased on the program ‘You Quiz’.
Professor Seo expressed his gratitude for the fruitful collaboration over the past 14 years, stating, “Working alongside Hye-kyo has been incredibly fulfilling. Together, we have donated Korean-language guidebooks to prestigious cultural institutions including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto.” He further highlighted their contributions to the commemoration of Korea’s independence movement, noting that they have provided Korean-language guidebooks, signage, and relief sculptures of independence activists to 37 locations worldwide.
In his remarks, Seo praised Song Hye-kyo’s character, calling her “sincere” and “consistent.” He recalled an impactful moment when she rejected a commercial modeling opportunity from Mitsubishi Motors, a corporation embroiled in wartime controversies. “At that time, she told me, ‘Professor, since I’m engaged in meaningful projects regarding Korea’s independence movement alongside you, it would be only natural for me to decline.’ This statement has remained etched in my memory, showcasing her sincere dedication to our cause,” Seo noted.
As they look ahead, Professor Seo announced exciting developments for the future. “This year marks the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation, and we are in the process of organizing meaningful projects to commemorate this milestone,” he shared, igniting anticipation among their supporters.
Over the span of their 14-year collaboration, Seo Kyung-duk and Song Hye-kyo have significantly contributed to promoting awareness of Korea’s independence movement through their generous donations of Korean-language materials abroad.
