The highly anticipated 60th Baeksang Awards ceremony in Korea took place on the afternoon of May 7, featuring the most popular A-list celebrities from the screen. The audience was thrilled by the presence of numerous big stars, including renowned actor Song Joong-ki. However, Song Joong-ki’s red carpet appearance sparked controversy due to one minor action.
On the Baeksang red carpet, Song Joong-ki charmed the cameras with his handsome and friendly demeanor. As a final touch, the “Descendants of the Sun”actor playfully made a heart gesture on his cheek, adding a touch of cuteness to his appearance. Little did he know that this simple gesture would ignite numerous debates soon after.
It should be mentioned that previously, Song Joong-ki had declined to make heart signs during events, deeming them uninteresting. He further expressed at a press conference for the K-drama “Reborn Rich” that he found conventional gestures to be “tedious”.
As a result, Song Joong-ki’s actions at the 60th Baeksang Awards sparked a controversy, contradicting his previous statement.
In contrast, Song Joong-ki gained recognition for his brief appearance in the popular K-drama “Queen of Tears”alongside Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won.
At the current Baeksang Awards, Song Joong-ki will be vying for the Best Supporting Actor award in the Film category for his portrayal of Chi-geon in “Hopeless”.
