The 33rd Buil Film Awards took place at Signiel Busan in Haeundae-gu, Busan, on October 3rd. Esteemed actors Kim Dong-wook and Go Ah-sung hosted this prestigious event.
The award for Best Supporting Actor was presented by actors Kim Jong-soo and Ko Min-si, and it was awarded to Song Joong-ki for his outstanding performance in the film “Hopeless.”
Upon receiving the award, Song Joong-ki expressed his gratitude, stating, “I’m deeply grateful. Personally, I feel honored to receive an award from Kim Jong-soo, who plays my father in the upcoming film “Bogota: City of the Lost.” I have fond memories of him discussing a compelling script called “Hopeless” while we were filming “Bogota: City of the Lost” in Cyprus. He even mentioned that the production team was seeking a discount on actor pay due to budget constraints. Receiving an award from him, my senior, is incredibly meaningful to me.”
He elaborated on the themes of “Hopeless,” stating, “It addresses the deep scars of two boys who grew up exposed to domestic abuse. I would like to thank director Kim Chang-hoon for his exceptional direction, and also express my gratitude to PlusM CEO Hong Jeong-in for making the brave and challenging decision to invest in this film. My sincere appreciation goes to CEO Lee Jung-se for introducing me to this profound script during a period when I felt stagnant in my career.”
In closing, he acknowledged the hard work of his fellow actors, saying, “Thank you to Hong Sa-bin and Kim Hyung-seo for your dedication. A heartfelt thank you to Tiger JK for your soulful contributions. I aim to remain humble and be an actor who cherishes this award while striving diligently. Lastly, I am grateful to my loving family and humbly bow to the staff and judges of the Buil Film Awards who honored me despite my shortcomings.”
