Song Kang-ho’s Story of Upsetting Director Park Chan-wook

On June 15th, the YouTube channel “DdeunDdeun” released a new video titled, “First Meeting is Just an Excuse” . The guests on the video were actors Song Kang-ho, Byun Yo-han, and Jin Ki-joo, who shared a variety of discussions as part of their appearance on the show as “Uncle Samsik”actors.

Song Kang-ho admitted that he is a morning person, stating, “I usually wake up at 6 a.m. and just stay still.”In contrast, Byun Yo-han revealed, “I sleep as much as I want.”Jin Ki-joo also shared her sleeping habits, saying, “If no one wakes me up, I can sleep until 1-3 p.m. However, I am trying to change my routine by going to bed earlier and waking up earlier. My best record so far is 10 a.m.”

Byun Yo-han and Jin Ki-joo were asked about their impressions of Song Kang-ho. They both mentioned that he was both careful and playful. Upon hearing this, Song Kang-ho smiled and confirmed, “They’re correct”.

When asked about his appearance on “Pinggyego” , Song Kang-ho clarified, “After 35 years of being in the entertainment industry, it’s important for me to participate in various programs and interact with viewers. However, I am hesitant because I am not skilled at telling humorous or emotional anecdotes in such settings. I try to limit my appearances on programs in order to not cause any inconvenience for the viewers.” He then added, “But I had a change of heart. I have faith in Byun Yo-han and Jin Ki-joo as they are excellent at sharing captivating stories.”

Describing “Uncle Samsik”as his first drama, Song Kang-ho stated, “I was offered the role and it was mentioned in various articles. Some individuals referred to me as a ‘newcomer’ and I couldn’t help but laugh. It brings me joy when others label me as a ‘fresh actor’.”

When questioned about his thoughts on traveling, Song Kang-ho admitted, “I’m not particularly fond of traveling or going anywhere. When staying at hotels, I strongly dislike going out and would prefer to remain indoors.”He then recalled an experience from 15 years ago when he attended a film festival in Morocco, and it took 14 hours to reach the hotel from Korea. While directors Park Chan-wook and Kim Ji-woon ventured out after the event, Song Kang-ho chose to stay at the hotel due to its pleasant atmosphere.

Song Kang-ho shared that director Park Chan-wook was displeased with him, saying, “The director questioned why I bothered coming here if I was just going to stay at the hotel after traveling so far.” Yoo Jae-suk inquired, “Did you end up going out then?” to which Song Kang-ho responded with a smile, “No, I didn’t.”
