Song Mino Faces Allegations Amid Military Service Controversy
As reported by Star News, K-pop star Song Mino did not show up for his duties at the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul on December 18. He has been assigned to this facility since March 2023 after his transfer from the Mapo Facility Management Corporation, marking the start of his alternative military service.
On the day of his absence, Song Mino was said to be on sick leave due to personal issues. He has a documented medical history, including a Grade 4 diagnosis from his conscription physical, attributed to panic disorder and bipolar disorder, for which he is currently undergoing treatment. Notably, allegations surfaced on December 17 concerning suspected attendance issues and potential falsification of work records; however, he missed work the very next day due to his sick leave.
Investigation Into Supervisor’s Actions
The facility’s supervisor, referred to as “L”and allegedly linked to Song Mino’s situation, attended work on December 18 and faced questioning regarding the circumstances. Efforts by Star News to obtain a statement from L were unsuccessful, with a representative at the facility stating, “The supervisor is currently under investigation regarding Song Mino’s negligence controversy and is unavailable.” They further declined to confirm details about Song Mino’s attendance, stating, “We have nothing to say on the matter.”
Impending Discharge Under a Cloud of Negligence Claims
With the completion of his alternative service approaching on December 23, allegations of negligence have overshadowed Song Mino’s impending discharge. Earlier reports indicated he took a five-night, six-day trip to Hawaii starting October 31, after which he failed to return to work as required. In defense, YG Entertainment stated that the sick leave was related to ongoing treatment predating his service, asserting that all other absences adhered to the relevant regulations and that no wrongdoing had occurred on Song Mino’s part.
Moreover, criticism has been directed toward the Military Manpower Administration, with accusations of inadequate monitoring of the situation. Following the emergence of these concerns, the administration has initiated an investigation to uncover the facts.
Dating Rumors Surface Amid Controversy
In a surprising twist, dating rumors involving Song Mino and actress Park Ju-hyun emerged just one day after the allegations regarding his negligence. The two stars shared the screen in the 2022 Netflix film “Seoul Vibe,”rekindling public interest in their relationship.
Their previous public interactions have drawn attention, including Song Mino sending a coffee truck to support Park Ju-hyun during her filming for the MBC drama “The Forbidden Marriage”in 2022. Park Ju-hyun was also seen at Song Mino’s brand launch and solo art exhibition that same year. Despite the speculation, both agencies have opted not to comment on the dating rumors, citing the importance of privacy.
