On November 1, Netflix unveiled a captivating new teaser and trailer for the much-anticipated second season of its acclaimed series.
The recently shared poster features the character Seong Gi Hun positioned before fellow competitors and the Front Man, portrayed by Lee Byung Hun, who oversees the ominous masked guards dressed in pink.
Season 2 is set to showcase an impressive cast, including notable names such as T.O.P, a former member of Big Bang, Jo Yuri from IZ*ONE, Im Siwan, and Wi Ha Joon.
Interestingly, the trailer also highlights the presence of seasoned actor Song Young Chang; however, his inclusion has ignited backlash due to a controversial incident from his past.
In September 2000, Song Young Chang faced legal repercussions for engaging in underage prostitution, having paid $150 for sexual encounters with a 16-year-old girl on two occasions, which resulted in a suspended 10-month prison sentence and two years of probation.
Following his sentencing, Song relocated to Canada with his family to pursue English studies, later participating in various musicals before making his return to Korea. He is notably the first individual in the South Korean entertainment sector to be convicted for underage prostitution and has faced bans from major broadcasting networks including KBS, EBS, and MBC.
Earlier, the release of Squid Game 2 stirred discussions due to the casting of T.O.P (who received a two-year suspended sentence for drug offenses), Oh Dal Soo (who has faced sexual assault accusations, though the statute of limitations has expired), along with several other actors with checkered pasts.
