Sony Reveals Vision for the Future of PlayStation Controllers & It’s Weird

According to a corporate strategy video, Sony has offered a sneak peek at their potential vision for a PlayStation controller in the next decade.

Despite rumors of the PS5 Pro being released soon, numerous Sony enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating any news of a potential upgrade for the console’s DualSense controller. Although Sony has not made any official announcements regarding an improved PlayStation 5, it is widely speculated that we may soon get a sneak peek of what is in store.

Surprising Sony fans, the recent Sony Corporate Strategy Meeting 2024 featured a glimpse into the potential design of future PlayStation controllers. In a video presentation, a peculiar-looking controller was unveiled, being utilized to play a game set in space.

The controller, with its distinctive appearance, is visible in the video at just over the midway point. Although it is most likely a product of special effects, the controller boasts a never-before-seen illuminated ring situated between its two sides. In contrast to the current DualSense controller, the center portion of this futuristic design seems to be entirely absent, with a projected display above instead.

Sony’s video not only featured potential future controllers, but also gave a glimpse of other advanced technology, including a transparent handheld display and a compact transparent smartphone that is as small as a gaming mouse.
