Sooyoung made an appearance on the YouTube channel “East Sea & Baekdu Eunhyuk” on September 9th, sharing anecdotes with Donghae and Eunhyuk about their experiences as trainees at SM Entertainment and their group activities.
Eunhyuk reminisced about his time as a Super Junior trainee, stating, “I was assigned to start the choreography with Siwon in our group. But one day, during practice, the training staff switched my position with Siwon’s, moving me from the center to the edge.”
He admitted that this change frustrated him at first, but after watching the performance, he acknowledged, “I didn’t fit in that position.” He humorously added, “Their assessment was right on target!”
Sooyoung expressed her understanding of Eunhyuk’s feelings, revealing that during Girls’ Generation’s promotions, Yoona, Yuri, and Seohyun frequently occupied the center positions, which left her feeling disheartened about not having the opportunity. She reflected, “As this continued during our promotions, I often wondered if I would get a chance too.”
Specifically, Sooyoung mentioned her role in the popular song “Genie” , explaining, “I also have legs, so I questioned why I wasn’t given the opportunity.” She added, “Everyone knows Yoona is beautiful. But I wish I could have been given a chance as well.”
However, upon reflection, Sooyoung embraced the situation, stating, “Looking back now, of course… Unrivaled! The executives’ judgment was spot on.”
Sooyoung also shared insights regarding Girls’ Generation’s upcoming 20th-anniversary activities.
She noted, “Whenever we gather, we establish a dress code. Recently, we donned white outfits to celebrate Tiffany’s birthday,” showcasing the strong camaraderie among the members. Sooyoung expressed her enthusiasm for future group endeavors, saying, “I genuinely want us to go on a full-group tour. We only have three years left until our 20th anniversary.”
