Speculations about Soyeon potentially signing with KOZ Entertainment and HYBE Labels have brought her into the spotlight as she negotiates contract renewals with Cube.
On August 8, Korean news source Ilgan Sports published a report exclusively revealing that Soyeon was reportedly being pursued by several labels, including KOZ Entertainment, a subsidiary of HYBE.
According to sources, there were already rumors circulating before Soyeon’s controversial performance, which sparked reactions from Neverlands, led to Cube Entertainment issuing an official statement, and prompted Soyeon to clarify on social media.
Among the agencies that were the subject of rumors, KOZ Entertainment, owned by Zico, was one of them. These speculations were fueled by the previous interactions between Soyeon and Zico. This includes Soyeon’s highly talked about appearance on KBS2’s “The Seasons – Zico’s Artist,”which caused a stir in the K-pop community.
According to reports, other companies were also interested in taking care of Soyeon, not just KOZ Entertainment.
There have been reports of Big Planet Made Entertainment’s strong interest in the fourth-generation K-pop star. This company is known for managing popular artists such as SHINee Taemin, VIVIZ, BADVILLAIN, Lee Mujin, BE’O, and Ren.
Based on the outlet’s report, it was noted that Soyeon would likely take her time and avoid rushing due to her ongoing contract with Cube.
The update was met with reactions from netizens, which were as follows:
Twitter Error
Before yall start, idk much about her but I’m sure she knows more about what agency is best for her than a bunch of twitter pixels with bitter pre-existing biased hate towards hybe. I wish her and her group luck. If i was under a shit company like cube id definitely want better🫶 https://t.co/fM41cG5nMp

I know her fans won’t like this but I bet this 100% based on her personal connections with koz and if she ends up in koz it’s because she believes it’s the safest place https://t.co/tNRlsFAQLy

i don’t have much to yap about regarding this bc i don’t think there’s sufficient evidence to suggest soyeon will join KOZ yet, but if she does i will be a happy little kpop stan & i hope she brings the rest of idle to KOZ along with her https://t.co/cL8CtTc4ob

this is actually such a good thing cuz compared to other labels in hybe, koz is the least problematic and gives the most freedom to their artists https://t.co/iLu9gppsfZ

This surprised meNot the part that she’s gonna leave CUBE, which is logical and totally understandable, but the part that she’s considering going to another companyI believe she’s in a place of relevancy in which she has the power to create her own. I hope she realizes that https://t.co/Qlgq1BjwNl

Cube Entertainment has officially announced that Soyeon’s contract has ended in November, as confirmed in a statement. The agency also acknowledged the impact of Soyeon’s “Is this bad b****** number?”on social media.
Cube expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to Soyeon and the dedicated (G)I-DLE fans. The company also acknowledged being aware of the performance in advance and confirmed that Soyeon’s contract will expire in November, as previously stated during the performance.
Nevertheless, Cube disclosed that a conversation was still taking place regarding the potential renewal of Soyeon’s contract.
“Cube has shared that Soyeon’s contract end date is the time mentioned in the performance. They are currently engaged in thorough discussions regarding the renewal of her contract.”
