During a recent appearance as a guest on Shin Dong Yup’s YouTube channel, Soyou, a former member of SISTAR, shared openly about her previous struggles with a severe panic disorder.
During the May 13 KST airing of the show, Soyou shared intimate details about her struggle with panic attacks.
Soyou remembered the difficult moments she encountered when dealing with panic attacks during her busy schedule in the past.
She confessed, “I suffered from really severe panic attacks. I barely remember anything about the ‘Lean on Me’ promotions. It’s all a blur because I was heavily reliant on medication.”
Her sincere confession illuminates the impact that mental health challenges can have, even on those in the spotlight.
Despite facing numerous challenges, Soyou opened up about her path to healing and the strategies she currently uses to manage stress. She highlighted the significance of finding happiness in life, stating:
“Nowadays, I focus on having fun. I make it a point to go on a trip at least once a year. When I travel, I let go of all my worries and just enjoy myself.”
Soyou’s emphasis on self-care and making mental well-being a priority highlights the importance of taking care of oneself. Her candidness about her past experiences with panic disorder serves as a powerful reminder to destigmatize mental health problems and encourage open conversations about them.
Through the act of sharing her personal experiences, she motivates others to seek assistance and guidance in the face of similar obstacles.
During a recent appearance on a variety show, Soyou, a previous member of the K-pop group SISTAR, discussed the challenges the group faced in making friends after their debut. Rumors about their personalities and behavior had made it difficult for them to form relationships.

However, her peers reassured her that her true personality did not align with the negative image being portrayed.
