Since the announcement of the PS5 Pro, gaming enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating its enhanced performance and graphical improvements due to significant hardware upgrades. As part of this update, many titles are set to receive enhancements, and it appears one more game is being added to this exciting list.
In an interview with IGN, Tim Willits, the Chief Creative Officer at Saber Interactive, shared his hopes that Space Marine 2 will leverage the PS5 Pro’s AI upscaling capabilities (also known as PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) attributed to the hardware upgrade.
Willits stated during the IGN interview: “So what I hope — and it’s just me, I don’t know anything technical — but what I hope is with the PS5 Pro, with the AI upsampling, that players will be able to play Space Marine 2 in Performance [Speed] Mode, and it’ll look better, hopefully — hopefully, I don’t know — it’ll look better than it does in Quality Mode now.”
With the PS5 Pro, players might soon experience Titus’ determined expression in higher quality.
Although there’s no official confirmation from either Sony or Saber Interactive, it seems likely that Space Marine 2 will substantially benefit from the AI upscaling, both in terms of performance and graphic quality.
Currently, players on Xbox and PlayStation can select between two modes: Quality Mode, which boosts the resolution but caps the frame rate at 30fps, and Performance Mode, which slightly reduces graphical fidelity but maintains a smooth 60fps.
Tim Willits is optimistic that the PS5 Pro will strike the perfect balance between these modes, allowing players to battle Tyranids at 60fps while ensuring the game “looks better than it does in Quality Mode now.”
PlayStation 5 users have previously expressed their frustrations regarding the game’s performance, pointing out issues such as framerate drops, crashes, and occasional stuttering. While these issues hope to be addressed in future patches, it’s evident that those buying the PS5 Pro will have an additional title to enjoy at top-tier quality.
