There is a possibility that the upcoming Spider-Man 4 will not address the cliffhanger ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home. In fact, according to a new leak, the film may take place on Battleworld and not provide any answers to questions.
It has been reported that Spider-Man 4 is expected to be released in July 2026, sandwiched between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. According to insider My Cosmic Circus, the film will be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel does not currently have any films scheduled for that timeframe, but they did recently remove an untitled film from July 24, 2026. However, there have been rumors suggesting that the films set between the two Avengers movies will not be a part of the main MCU storyline, and instead take place on Battleworld.
If the reports about Battleworld are accurate, then the possibility exists that Spider-Man 4 could be set in a completely unique realm unaffected by the events of No Way Home’s finale. Battleworld, which was last featured in the 2015 Secret Wars event, is a freshly constructed world created by Doctor Doom in the aftermath of the multiverse’s collapse.
For years, fans have eagerly anticipated the aftermath of Spider-Man: No Way Home’s jaw-dropping conclusion. By joining forces with two other versions of himself, the MCU’s Peter successfully protects the multiverse. However, he ultimately sacrifices his own memories in the process. Since then, Holland’s Spider-Man has yet to make an appearance in the MCU.
In the comics, Spider-Man has a significant connection to Battleworld. He acquired his black costume, which later transformed into the symbiote Venom, on the initial Battleworld during the first Secret Wars in 1985.
In 2015, the Secret Wars event showcased various “Domains”containing alternate versions of characters. Among these domains were multiple versions of Peter Parker, but the most notable was an older Peter who remained married to Mary Jane and had a daughter named Annie.
As of now, nothing has been officially confirmed. We are aware that Spider-Man 4 is currently in its early stages and Marvel has yet to announce any details, such as a director or additional cast members. However, if the film does come after the release of Avengers: Doomsday in May 2026, we can expect to receive more updates in the near future.
The upcoming MCU movie, Captain America: Brave New World, will be released in theaters on February 14, 2025. In the meantime, you can stay updated on all the Deadpool 3 cameos, new movies available for streaming this month, and upcoming releases on Disney+.
