Brad Winderbaum, an executive at Marvel TV, has responded to requests for a revival series of Spider-Man ’98, similar to X-Men ’97.
Fans of Spider-Man: The Animated Series were eagerly anticipating a potential revival ever since the premiere of X-Men ’97. Their hope grew even stronger when the eighth episode, ‘Tolerance Is Extinction, Pt. 1,’ of the X-Men show included a brief appearance from the web-slinging hero.
The protagonist made a comeback in the final episode of X-Men ’97, but he was accompanied by someone else. Fans were delighted to see Mary Jane, finally providing closure to the unresolved cliffhanger in the Spider-Man series where the titular character and Madame Web were on a mission to find MJ.
During an interview with Screen Rant, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, shared his thoughts on the Peter and MJ tease.
In an interview with the publication, he expressed his excitement about seeing them reunite on screen. He also shared his desire to see the entire adventure with Madame Web and uncover how he was able to accomplish it. With a laugh, he added that perhaps one day, as fans, we could hope for such a dream to come true.

When questioned about whether a plan was already in place in case a sequel to Spider-Man ’98 was given the go-ahead, Winderbaum clarified,
“The possibility is always there, isn’t it? I don’t want to completely dismiss any options. However, I believe that as of now and for the foreseeable future, X-Men 97 will dominate the 90s era. Whether we incorporate guest appearances or storylines from other Marvel characters of that time is yet to be determined, but it will be viewed through the X-Men perspective.”
Despite the current situation, it seems that Spider-Man’s return is not currently in the plan. Nevertheless, this does not necessarily mean that fans should give up hope for his appearance in Marvel’s ’90s animated universe. In the meantime, fans can anticipate the release of Season 2 of X-Men ’97.
