Spirit Chronicles Season 2 Episode 2: Rio Informs Celia About Haruto; Beltrum Kingdom Welcomes a New Hero
The episode kicks off with Rio explaining to Miharu and others his role as the provider of Aishia’s magical energy. This energy is shared through a covenant and a telepathic bond between them. While Celia acknowledges this connection, she notes that it doesn’t require Rio to be with Aishia all the time.
Aishia then turns her attention to Miharu, sensing that she possesses a magical energy akin to Rio’s. Meanwhile, Rio organizes sleeping arrangements, assigning Masato and Aki to share a room while Miharu, Rio, and Celia opt for individual rooms.
Later, Rio reveals to Celia the truth about his origins, confessing that he carries memories from Haruto, who perished in an accident in his previous life. This realization helps Celia grasp why Rio can communicate so effortlessly with Miharu and the others, as they come from the same world. However, Rio reassures her that he identifies as “Rio,”not “Haruto.”
Meanwhile, in another subplot, Reiss expresses sympathy towards Charles for the distressing circumstances regarding Celia’s abduction. Despite this, Charles remains optimistic, informing Reiss that the brigand has been neutralized, although he lacks details about Celia’s current location. Knowing Rio’s involvement, Reiss acknowledges the boy’s skill in maintaining the secrecy of his and the Spirit’s identities. Charles also worries about the implications of the written prophecy regarding the heroes’ arrival coming to fruition.
As the plot unfolds, it’s revealed that the Beltrum Kingdom has apprehended a Hero newly arrived in their realm. Reiss finds the situation amusing, leading to scenes in Rodan Territory Capital, Rodania, where Princess Flora and Duke Huguenot are preparing an extravagant banquet for the Hero, Sakata Hiroaki. This Hero, aware of his significance, acts with an arrogant demeanor. The episode also shows that Sakata was summoned to the Beltrum Kingdom while resting in his bed on Earth; as a dedicated otaku, he knows precisely how to fulfill the hero’s role.

The storyline soon focuses on Rio, who prepares to take Miharu and Celia on a shopping excursion while Masato and Aki decide to remain behind to watch over the stone house. Rio promises to return with nice outfits for them.
With the help of magic, Rio and Aishia fly Miharu and Celia to their destination. During their journey, Celia inquires about Aishia’s knowledge of Rio. The Spirit reveals she possesses nearly all of Haruto’s memories, practically merging their consciousness. This leads to a hint of jealousy from Celia, as she realizes Aishia may know more about Rio than she does. Aishia also shares that Haruto, in his past life, had a different demeanor.
Aishia feels that Celia’s kindness has significantly changed Rio/Haruto, allowing him to learn to trust others after being deprived of affection previously. She hopes to maintain their bond as he grows.
Once they land, Rio informs the group that they will present themselves as Celia Cecila in the town to protect her true identity. Additionally, he advises them to alter their hair colors, as dark hair might attract unwanted attention.
Their outing to the Trade Town of Amande in the Galarc Kingdom is a delightful experience. The group indulges in various local cuisines and acquires many items. Miharu picks out a stunning outfit for Rio, which he appreciates. Overall, they find great joy in their time at Amande shopping for essentials.
Meanwhile, in the Beltrum Kingdom, Aria informs Liselotte Cretia that the kingdom’s borders will take time to reopen. Liselotte suspects this might be an attempt by Beltrum to control the information flow regarding the heroes’ arrival. Aria encourages Liselotte to take a break and enjoy herself, pondering the implications of the heroes’ arrival.

As the evening progresses, Rio and Miharu prepare dinner. Aki observes that Miharu, generally shy around others, seems at ease with the more outgoing Haruto.
