Splitgate 2 will feature similar portal-focused multiplayer gameplay.
Splitgate 2 Platforms
The upcoming sequel to Splitgate will be accessible on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, as well as PC.
The game can now be added to your wishlist on Steam, and it will also be accessible through the Epic Games Store for PC players.
Splitgate 2 Gameplay
Splitgate 2, similar to its predecessor, is developed using Unreal Engine 5 and will have comparable gameplay. Like the original game, it is a multiplayer shooter where players can control portals, but this time the developers have incorporated factions into the gameplay.
The cinematic trailer appeared to feature three factions, each easily identifiable by their respective colors of pink, purple, and orange. This suggests that these factions will possess unique abilities, adding a hero-shooter aspect to Splitgate’s high-speed portal gameplay.
The cinematic trailer featured a variety of abilities, including a protective barrier being thrown down by one character, another character using a portable portal, and the ability to spot enemies through walls.
There were also some items, such as a throwable disc that exploded upon impact and a type of bomb that could freeze enemies, which could potentially be equipment obtainable in the game rather than abilities. However, this is just speculation, so it should be taken with a grain of salt.
The Story
Despite the absence of a single-player mode, the PlayStation blog announced that 1047 Games has employed a narrative writer to expand the lore and universe of Splitgate 2, adding more depth to the game’s overall story.
It is probable that this will be accomplished through the use of the faction system, as seen in the cinematic trailer where three distinct characters were featured prominently.
