With only two unique games so far in Squid Game Season 2, fans are already showcasing their skills in a standout challenge that seems to be a breeze. From iconic games like Red Light, Green Light to the classic Ddakji, it’s hard to find someone who hasn’t thought they could excel at these deadly games.
The reality spinoff, Squid Game: The Challenge, demonstrated that ordinary contestants could outmaneuver the high-stakes traps of the original series. Now, as Season 2 unfolds, viewers are treated to two fresh games, alongside an intriguing “special game,”which has left fans on the edge of their seats.
While the special game offers an intense cliffhanger, one of the newly introduced games may just be the most challenging yet. Surprisingly, many players appear to be breezing through what seems to be a complicated task.
Mastering the Gong-gi Mini-Game in Squid Game
The game that’s captured everyone’s attention is Gong-gi, featured in the Six-Legged Pentathlon from Squid Game Season 2, Episode 4. This game demands expert hand-eye coordination, as players must catch and toss colored stones in a specified sequence while also picking up multiple stones at a time.

The rules for Gong-gi are as follows:
- Round 1: Drop the stones and pick them up one by one.
- Round 2: Drop the stones and pick them up two by two.
- Round 3: Drop the stones, pick up three at once, then pick up the remaining one.
- Round 4: Throw one stone in the air, drop the remaining stones, catch the stone, and pick up the other four at once.
- Round 5a: Hold all five stones in your palm, then throw them before flipping your hand over to let them land on your fingers.
- Round 5b: Continue from 5a by throwing and catching all five stones.
As players pick up stones, they must also throw the ones currently in their palm into the air and catch them afterward. While this may seem daunting, many Korean parents are taking to TikTok to demonstrate just how easy it can be.

One TikTok caption humorously suggested, “POV: Your 1970s Korean mom would’ve slayed in Squid Game 2,” while others remarked how effortlessly their parents make it look.
As Gong-gi is traditionally a children’s game, it also has beloved variations in countries like India, Turkey, and Ethiopia. Inspired to try your hand at this skill? You can conveniently purchase a Gong-gi set on Amazon for less than ten dollars.
Squid Game Season 2 is currently streaming on Netflix. Additionally, fans are eagerly anticipating what Season 3 will bring, including speculation about new games and ranking every challenge by difficulty.
