Squid Game Season 2 Loses Netflix Top Spot, Not to a New Series

As Squid Game Season 2 continues to captivate a global audience, it has recently been dethroned from its top position on Netflix—not by an entirely new series, but by a surprise contender.

This acclaimed Korean drama has attained record-breaking viewership since its return, fuelling excitement for its grand finale set to air in June 2025. However, the long-standing wrestling program, WWE Monday Night RAW, has surged to prominence, claiming the number one slot on Netflix in North America.

Despite dominating the Netflix charts for several weeks, Squid Game Season 2 has been quickly overshadowed by WWE’s impressive debut. In a historic $5 billion deal, WWE’s flagship show began streaming exclusively on Netflix, with its inaugural episode airing live on January 6, 2025.

The debut episode of RAW was a memorable event, showcasing over three hours of entertainment loaded with top wrestling stars. Icons such as The Rock, John Cena, The Undertaker, and Hulk Hogan made appearances to honor RAW’s transition to Netflix.

To amplify the excitement, Logan Paul, despite recent retirement claims, was spotted in the crowd, teasing his return to the WWE universe in a brief video segment. The audience was also star-studded, featuring notable figures like Travis Scott, Macaulay Culkin, Gabriel Iglesias, Seth Green, and Stephen Amell.

With this impressive debut, it seems likely that WWE Monday Night RAW is poised to become a consistent blockbuster on the platform. Although Squid Game has temporarily lost its crown, it remains the fourth most-watched show in Netflix history and is expected to climb even higher in rankings over the next few weeks and months.
