Squid Game Viewers Express Concern Over Missing Detail in Season 2 Trailer

The highly-anticipated Squid Game Season 2 is finally here, as Netflix releases a new teaser. However, eagle-eyed fans have noticed a small yet important detail missing from the trailer – the traditional red light, green light game.

It has been a long wait for the release of the second chapter, particularly after the ending that teased a potential revenge storyline for Squid Game Season 2.

Despite three years having passed, the popular Netflix K-drama is finally preparing for its release in December. In the meantime, we can anticipate a steady stream of details to be revealed.

The most recent teaser, released last night (August 11), features Haydn’s popular trumpet concerto before transitioning into Shirudo’s eerie Squid Game theme song.

We are first shown a group of faceless individuals in their numbered tracksuits, before the focus shifts to Player 456, also known as Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae). Towards the end, a message appears on the screen stating, “The true game commences.”

However, when the camera reveals his face, viewers may notice something missing – his signature red hair. One fan commented in response to the teaser, “Oh, the red hair is gone now?”while another inquired, “Why isn’t his hair dyed?”

In the last scene of Squid Game Season 1, we see Gi-hun with his newly dyed hair, which was actually a symbolic gesture if we remember back.

In a 2021 interview with Zapzee, Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of Squid Game, elaborated on his decision for Gi-hun to change his hair at a salon, based on his intuition.

“I put myself in his shoes and pondered, ‘Which hair color would you absolutely refuse to dye?’

“After much consideration, I realized that Gi-hun would never dye his hair red. It was completely out of character for him to do such a drastic thing. Therefore, I personally selected a different color that I believed accurately portrayed his inner anger.”

Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that the reason for his hair returning to its natural color in the Squid Game Season 2 promo is because he allowed it to grow out. This is supported by the fact that the upcoming season takes place three years after Gi-hun’s victory in the game.

“According to a fan’s statement, it is likely that we will witness an extended airport scene with a time jump in the upcoming episodes.”

In addition, they provided the synopsis which states, “Season 2 is set three years after Gi-hun’s victory in Squid Game. Despite initially giving up on his dream of going to the United States, he returns with a newfound determination.”

“He initiates another round of the enigmatic survival game, commencing a life-or-death match with fresh contenders assembled to claim the grand prize of 45.6 billion won.”

Nonetheless, there is currently no confirmation on any of these details – we will need to wait for more information to fully comprehend the reason behind Gi-hun’s red hair.
