STALKER 2: What We Know So Far

STALKER 2 will take players back to the radioactive wasteland of the Zone. Here’s what we currently know about the highly anticipated game, including its release date, available platforms, and available trailers.

If you are not familiar with the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, the game centers on the infamous Chornobyl Disaster of 1986. On April 26, the nuclear reactor near Pripyat, Ukraine experienced a meltdown, causing one of the worst nuclear disasters in human history.

In the parallel timeline of S.T.A.L.K.E.R, a second explosion occurred in 2006 within the exclusion zone around Chornobyl, also referred to as “The Zone.”This event occurred 20 years after scientists had established a presence in the area to research the anomalies and other phenomena caused by the disaster.

The desolate nuclear wasteland, which is not quite abandoned, that remains after these occurrences serves as the backdrop for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. In the sequel, the Zone appears even more stunning, perilous, and barren than ever before, and we have all the latest information about it.

It might look like an irradiated hellscape (because it is), but for veteran stalkers, returning to the Zone is a dream.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 release date

The highly anticipated release date for STALKER 2 is November 20, 2024.

The release date for the game, originally planned for September 5, 2024, has been postponed due to an announcement made on July 25, 2024. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the developers stated that the delay of two months will allow them to address any unforeseen issues or bugs in the game.

After the initial announcement, STALKER 2 was scheduled to release on April 28, 2022. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the release date was pushed back to December 8, 2022. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Ukraine conflict, the game has been put on hold indefinitely as the developer is located in that region.

The developers have officially announced on Twitter that the game will require additional time in order to meet the expected standards.

In March 2022, GSC Game World, the developers of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 based in Kyiv, announced that the development of the game had been put on hold due to global events. However, during a Discord chat in May 2022, the team clarified that work on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is now back in progress, in response to a question from a fan.

The latest news was sourced from an official fact sheet released at Gamescom 2023. The fact sheet confirmed that the sequel was scheduled to be released on PC and Xbox platforms in Q1 2024. It was later announced that the game would instead be released in September.
