The list of nominees for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (2024 MTV VMA) was announced on the 6th (local time), revealing that Jungkook has received nominations in two categories – ‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘Best K-Pop’ for his song “Seven (feat. Latto).”
Jungkook’s status as a global pop star was highlighted in the ‘Best Collaboration’ category, where he was nominated alongside renowned artists including Taylor Swift, Post Malone, and Drake.
In 2022, Jungkook became the first ever Korean solo artist to be nominated for the ‘Song of Summer’ category at the MTV VMA. His collaboration with Charlie Puth, “Left and Right (Feat. Jung Kook of BTS),” earned him this nomination, making it the third year in a row for Jungkook. In the previous year, his song “Seven (feat. Latto)” won in the ‘Song of Summer’ category, solidifying Jungkook as the first Korean solo artist to achieve this victory.
The UBS Arena in New York will host the 2024 MTV VMA on September 10.
In July of last year, Jungkook’s debut single as a solo artist, “Seven (feat. Latto),”gained worldwide recognition and quickly became a “mega hit song.”The track achieved incredible success on prominent global music charts, such as reaching the top spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and landing at No. 3 on the UK Official Singles Chart. Additionally, it set a new record by reaching 1 billion streams on Spotify in a remarkably short period of time.
