Star Wars Fans Launch Petition to Save The Acolyte with Thousands of Signatures

The news of Disney’s cancellation of The Acolyte left fans in shock, prompting them to launch an online petition in hopes of saving the Star Wars series.

Despite a lukewarm reception, Disney decided to end production of the action-mystery series Star Wars: The Acolyte after just one season. The show’s cancellation has sparked controversy among fans, who are worried about unresolved storylines and the possibility of it becoming lost media.

Presently, fans have united in an effort to rescue the show by creating a Change.org petition that urges Disney to revive it.

The current number of signatures on the petition stands at just over 5,600, out of its overall goal of 7,500. Its purpose is to rally fans in support of The Acolyte, as it was a remarkably inclusive addition to the Star Wars franchise.

Star Wars fans are rallying on Change.org to revive The Acolyte for a second season

The petition expressed gratitude towards The Acolyte for providing a sense of recognition and belonging to both new and longtime Star Wars enthusiasts. It acknowledged the IP and fandom for not being inclusive to those who did not fit certain criteria before.

“Moreover, The Acolyte served as a symbol of representation that numerous fans had long felt was missing in the Star Wars universe.”

Despite facing heavy criticism from its most vocal opponents who claimed that the show’s LGBTQ+ representation and female leads were part of a “woke”agenda and ultimately led to its failure, The Acolyte’s success stands as a brilliant counterpoint. The hard data reveals that the show simply underperformed against its massive budget.

Despite the initial success of its premiere, which reached a peak of 11.1 million viewers, the series quickly declined and became the lowest-rated Star Wars show on Disney+. As a result, the Acolyte was unable to sustain enough momentum to warrant a second season, particularly considering the reported $180 million budget for the first season alone.

All episodes of The Acolyte, totaling eight, can now be found on Disney Plus. Additionally, viewers can stay up to date on the show’s use of “wokebaiting”tactics, the inclusion of all members of the Jedi Order, and other new TV shows available for streaming this month.
