“Exhuming the Past”is a pivotal quest within the “Shattered Space”DLC for Starfield. This mission guides players through the Ma’leen Dam, addressing the ongoing strife of House Dul’kehf on the planet Dazra.

The narrative takes a darker turn midway, challenging players to evaluate their ethical stance versus the temptation of profit.

1. Completing the Exhuming The Past Quest in Starfield

Acquire the keycard from Comrak Abbass or Kaviil Fahrzanas.
Access the Pump Control to drain the dam.

2. Obtaining the Keycard and Gaining Access to the Dam

Kick off the quest by heading to the Ma’leen Dam. Locate Comrak Abbass positioned near the staircase; he will direct you to Kaviil Fahrzanas at a nearby settlement.

Engage in some persuasion to convince Kaviil to relinquish the keycard or alternatively, employ your Security trait to bypass him. Once the keycard is in hand, proceed to the Secure Access door at the dam entrance to continue your journey.

3. Navigating the Dam

Trace the path marked on your map, leading you to the Pump Control where you can drain the dam upon entry. Descend the stairs to find a hallway with a significant gap in the floor. Utilize your jetpack to leap across the red pipes in search of an upper door.

Follow the marker until you discover a computer stationed behind a glass barrier. Be cautious of the contaminated water around; access this computer. Look for stairs on the lower level to activate the switch and gain entry.

Inside, you’ll find that the Sub Pump computer is non-operational due to a faulty Vortex Power Modulator. Identify the device (the modulator), eliminate it with gunfire, and return to the computer to begin exploring the emptied chambers of the dam.

4. Executing the Teleportation Experiment

As you delve deeper into the dam, you’ll encounter a locked white door with the task “Find a way to open the door.”

Upon successfully opening it, you will discover a sophisticated computer designed for a teleportation experiment. Enter the code 335 (found in the “Recent Experimental Results” document) at the terminal.

This action will teleport a keycard directly to you, which you can then use to unlock the white door. Once opened, you can proceed further into the dam to collect the Vortex Interlock.

5. Collecting the Vortex Interlock

When you reunite with Karija, interact with the central computer in the room. Proceed into the hallway towards a red Emergency Cuttable Wall, shoot at the orange corners to breach it, and continue through the vents.

Upon confrontation with Karija, engage them in battle and defeat them. Shoot the Vortex Power Modulator located at the back of the room after securing victory. Return to the central computer to collect your first Vortex Interlock.

Now, you must make a critical choice regarding the second Vortex Interlock. Removing it will have ramifications on the nearby seaweed farm’s ecosystem and impact individuals like Comrak and Kaviil.

6. Is it Wise to Remove the Second Interlock?

Option 1: Extract the Second Interlock
