In the near future, Starfield will receive a significant update that will introduce additional ship-building capabilities, city maps, and other exciting features to the game.
Ever since the release of the game, players have been consistently requesting for more ship-building features to be added in Starfield.
Despite the presence of some customization options at launch, players have been eagerly anticipating the implementation of an expanded system in the game.
At the timestamp of 31:10 below, Todd Howard shares information about the upcoming update for Starfield.
The announcement was made during a conversation between Howard and Kinda Funny, where they discussed various topics such as Fallout, Starfield, and Bethesda.
During an interview with host Greg Miller, Howard was questioned about the defining features of a Bethesda game and the decision-making process for including certain elements in a title. Among the topics mentioned by Howard was ship-building.
During a brief moment of the interview, Howard discussed their decision to incorporate base-building into Starfield, giving players the option to engage in the mechanic if they desired. He stated:
“Ship-building has emerged as the primary focus. And in the upcoming update, which is set to be announced in a few days, we have some exciting additions for ship-building.”
Despite the lack of official information on these ship-building additions, players can certainly look forward to them in the near future.
Despite the added feature, Howard also addressed the development team’s efforts on the maps in Starfield, specifically implementing maps for the game’s cities.
Upon the initial release of the game, fans often expressed their disappointment with the absence of detailed maps for each city, particularly in comparison to other popular titles such as the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, which have consistently featured maps for their cities. This lack of maps was particularly noticeable in Starfield.
Howard continued to keep most of the information to himself, briefly mentioning that they had made some changes to the city map.
Hopefully, this alteration will make it significantly simpler to traverse cities and reach quest markers and destinations with greater ease.
Although he did not specify a release date for the update to Starfield, his mention of its appearance in Steam data suggests that it may be coming very soon.
In addition to this update, Howard revealed that the game’s first DLC, named Shattered Space, is scheduled to release in the autumn. While specific information about the plot has been kept secret, there is speculation that it will revolve around House Va’Ruun, one of the factions that players can align with in Starfield.
Despite receiving polarizing opinions, Starfield’s launch was successful for Bethesda. This latest update may be a way to lessen the divide and cater to the desires of a larger audience within the game.
