Starfield players “reassured” by March patch changes

Starfield’s latest patch, currently in beta on Steam, has players optimistic for the future of Bethesda’s space RPG.

Since its release last September, Starfield has received mostly mixed reviews. While some have spent hundreds of hours in the game and are still excited to discover more secrets, others have quickly given up on it. The latter cited weak gameplay and unconvincing narrative content.

It didn’t help that Bethesda was initially slow to release updates.

But all that has recently changed. In fact, the developers have released two updates since the beginning of 2024. And a third is currently in beta on Steam. These patches and their numerous fixes make players confident about the future of Starfield.

Starfield players optimistic after two major patches

Bethesda shared the patch notes for the latest Starfield update as it entered beta on Steam this week. It is not yet known when the update will be available to all players on PC and Xbox. However, with the latest patch having been in beta for around two weeks, the wait shouldn’t be too long.

Although most players can’t experience the changes yet, the patch notes alone have made some players optimistic.

As player Loose_Respond_6855 shared on Reddit: “I was greatly surprised by the number of fixes (over 500!) brought by the latest update, in addition to the first comfort updates.”

He went on to praise Bethesda’s strategy of “fixing bugs first, then gradually introducing gameplay updates.”He then speculated about these and what new features will eventually surpass the bug fixes. Many shared his enthusiasm.

While there is still a lot of work to be done, the comments are filled with players asking if any specific bugs or frustrations have been addressed. It seems that Bethesda is keeping the promise launched in 2024. In fact, they had announced that they wanted to post updates approximately every six weeks starting in February.

It will probably be a while before we get any significant content updates, like the Shattered Space DLC. Nevertheless, these recent Starfield patches seem to give a second life to Bethesda’s space exploration RPG.
