Starfield: Shattered Space has been released, allowing players to explore the intricate Va’ruun culture in depth—possibly even more than expected. In true Starfield fashion, the quest “Zealous Overreach”thrusts you into a chaotic situation, where the future of House Ka’dic rests upon your decisions.
While navigating the various factions in Dazra, you will meet Razma Ka’dic, the elder of House Ka’dic, who is in dire need of assistance. Her niece and several other members of House Ka’dic have been taken hostage by the merciless Zealots.
Just as you prepare for a daring rescue, Djimal, another family member, brings a twist: the Zealots are not merely criminals—they are rogue elements from House Ka’dic itself. It is now your responsibility to determine the outcome: persuade Mirek, either rescue or eliminate Sahima, and decide the fate of the hostages.
How to Persuade Mirek Ka’dic
Let’s make him friendlier.
Mirek Ka’dic possesses vital information about Sahima’s location, but he can be tough to persuade—unless you choose the correct dialogue options. Here’s how to effectively persuade Mirek Ka’dic:
- “I’m here to see you.”
- “I’m Diviner (name).”
- “I was looking for a specific Zealot base. I believe you know it.”
- “It’s not absurd. Razma mentioned you’re aware.”
- “Very perceptive. I understand why Razma holds you in high regard.”
- “Of course not. Quality work requires time, regardless of talent.”
- “Dealing with your level of stress must be quite demanding.”
- “You mention they’re unpredictable; hence, you acknowledge the threat Sahima and the hostages face.”
Next, engage in a four-slot Persuasion check. This should be manageable, given that you should ideally be level 35 to handle Shattered Space comfortably. Opting for different dialogue responses will escalate the challenge to an eight-slot Persuasion check.
Upon successfully persuading him, Mirek will disclose the location of the hostages. Now, it’s time to proceed there using your vehicle.
Should You Rescue or Kill Sahima and the Hostages?
What’s the right choice?
Killing Sahima and the Hostages
If your decision leans towards eliminating Sahima, you will be able to loot her body for valuable research. However, this choice triggers a “leave no witnesses” objective, requiring you to eliminate all remaining enemies and hostages. Should Adreja accompany you, she will be dismayed by your actions and cease being your active companion.
During the power station negotiations, you can deceive Razma by asserting that the Zealots betrayed her. She will believe your lie and become enraged with Mihael and the Zealots, asserting that House Ka’dic is finished with them. At this juncture, you can persuade Mihael to adhere to a ceasefire or launch an attack against him. Upon overcoming the battle, you’ll hand over the research and receive 10,000 credits for your efforts.
Rescuing Sahima and the Hostages
Choosing to rescue Sahima alters the trajectory of “Zealous Overreach”. You’ll still need to search for the hostages below and clear the area for their escape. Adreja will support this decision.
Upon returning to the power station, Sahima will join the negotiations, leaving Mihael astonished. Ultimately, Sahima can utilize the virus to assist you in dealing with the representatives. Afterward, engage with Razma, who will express relief over her niece’s survival, rewarding you with 15,000 credits.
Best Outcome in Zealous Overreach
Rescuing Sahima and the hostages yields the most favorable outcome. Not only do you earn the highest reward in terms of credits, but you also achieve the most ethically sound conclusion—ensuring the survival of all involved. Furthermore, you save ammunition since no defenseless hostages need to be taken down.
How to Free or Kill the Remaining Hostages
Choose between freeing them or eliminating them—it’s your choice.
Once you’ve made the decision to kill or save Sahima during this Starfield: Shattered Space quest, your next task is to track down the hostages—either to free them or silence them permanently to safeguard your secrets.
From the spot where you conversed with Sahima, turn around and look for a black door on the left side. Descend the stairs but prepare yourself—formidable enemies await. You will find a group of hostages in a cell.
If you continue down the path, you will reach an open area. To the right, there is a room containing one hostage, and if you ascend the stairs to the left, you will find another hostage in a locker room.
Once you’ve cleared the opponents, you can opt to rescue or take out the hostages to move forward. The final steps will involve the power station negotiations, after which you will receive your reward and complete the “Zealous Overreach”quest.
